Becoming a fitness instructor part 1 of 3? That’s right! Over the next three months we will be guiding you through all the necessary steps you need to become a qualified instructor (don’t worry, we’ll hold your hand all the way).
If you are reading this blog, we trust that you are somebody who is passionate about keeping fit. At our fitness studio in Lancaster, we see new people start their fitness journey all the time. In no time at all, clients who are fed up, overweight and out of condition acquire something we refer to as the ‘fitness bug’ (if you really love fitness, you know exactly what this feels like!). We love to see clients transform (inside and out) into happier, healthier and fitter people. Being a part of their journey is an amazing privilege – and there’s no denying that.
A career in the fitness industry is all it’s cracked up to be. It’s rewarding, it’s flexible, it’s challenging. You have the opportunity to be your own boss, pick your own hours, choose your own wage and wake up every morning to a job that excites you and a job that you love. You will be challenged to keep up to date with new techniques, explore new exercises and learn how to use new equipment – but if you are anything like us, you will love doing the research because it’s no longer just a job. Every day is different in the world of fitness and you never know who will approach your door and why. It’s your job to be their go-to professional and share what you know (and love) most about keeping fit.
So, the first step in becoming qualified?
Check which area is perfect for you.
A career change sounds a bit daunting. So, let’s start basic. You know that you want to change your career and do something you love. But retraining and giving up a steady job is a gamble, right? It certainly is, especially if you don’t really know what to expect. If you are anything like me, you like to know exactly what’s around the corner. You’re not someone who can hand in your notice today and jump onto a fitness instructor course tomorrow. Our biggest advice to you? Try the career out! Don’t be afraid to join some classes, take a personal training session or ask for some nutritional advice. Find which area of fitness you would like to go into and get acquainted with it; after all, who wants to settle for a steady job when you could have the best job?
What next?
